Syreeta and I just finished reading today’s devotion from Dennis and Barbara Rainey’s Moments With You. In this book, there are 365 devotions with the intention of encouraging daily connections for couples. We highly encourage you to read this book.
Today’s message was so profound that we were both deeply touched. The message was definitely for us.
Have you ever read a book, or attended a seminar, or heard a pastor preach and it felt like the message was directed just towards you?
I know I have. In fact, there have been many times when I felt like this.
It’s like God is saying, “I’m gonna get his attention with this message.”
I don’t take this lightly because I believe everything happens for a reason. The question is, “Are we slowing down enough to receive the message?”
Just yesterday, we had a doctor’s appointment for our pregnancy check-up. While sitting in the waiting area, a magazine caught my attention. No, it wasn’t “Sports Illustrated” or “GQ” (smile). Rather, it was “Fit Pregnancy.” That’s right, you heard me correctly… “Fit Pregnancy.”
Now listen, I have never read “Fit Pregnancy” before. I didn’t even know it existed. But look at how God works because on the front cover, there’s an article entitled, “Baby-proof Your Marriage – How to head off problems before the baby comes!”
Wow! There are no mistakes.
Here I am in the doctor’s office for our regular check-up appointment because our baby will be born in 8 weeks. Jade just turned 3-years-old and now we have a baby coming. So many questions have popped into my mind including, “How will our life change?”
This article was right on time because it shared some insights and suggestions for maintaining a healthy marriage and family when the stresses and pressures come with the birth of a new baby.
The revelation that I had is that it’s so very important to continue reading books and magazines that inspire you to be your best. Yes, I know we’re busy but what better use of your time then developing your mind?
Think about it… The more you grow, the more you will have to give to your spouse, children, family and friends.
Question: What books, blogs or magazines do you read to inspire you to be your best?
Do share because we can all benefit from learning from others.
