Joys of Parenthood

by Syreeta on April 21, 2010

What a joy it is to be the vessel to bring new life into this world! It’s not my first but it sure feels like it. Each time it feels sooo special. Sure I’m sleep-deprived and all that comes with having a newborn but one look at his precious little body and my heart just melts. It makes me think about being a parent and the great responsibility it carries with it.

As parents we want the absolute best for our children from birth and beyond. Our jobs as parents is to love, nurture and guide our children. Ultimately, we are to lead them to God. Love is essential in parenting. You need lots of it to get you thru the disappontments and challenges you are sure to face in your quest to bring up loving and respectful children in these challenging times. I believe that we all have been created to love. Love is IN us…it’s natural. It’s the multiple disappontments that we’ve experienced in life that has made us believe otherwise. Love never fails!

When I think about the fact that our children are basically gifts that are being entrusted to us by God it really shifts my perspective on parenting. Now that is something to think about!

With that in mind what will you do differently today?

Knowing that you were created to love how can you demonstrate that love to your family and to others?

We will love to hear from you. Post your answers to the above questions in the space provided below.

  • Hey little man! What a joy to see your little face pop up in my Twitter stream this morning. I have been asking your father about you. He was not sending me photos and I was getting upset. I'm so glad he's showing you off. You are the cutest little pumpkin -- I'm glad you are here and can't wait to hold you. Now you just keep doing a good job of keeping daddy sleep deprived. He can handle it. I have a bag of goodies over here for you. Must get them to your daddy today before you grow out of them! Love from your self-appointed Auntie Donna!

Parenting is a job that never ends. In fact once we get the swing of it we don't ever want it to end. Children are indeed a blessing although if we are honest, there are times we need to be reminded of that. I consider today my reminder.
