Maximizing Money in a Changing Economy

by Syreeta on May 19, 2010

In these challenging times, we need to be intentional about maximizing our resources and being better stewards of our finances. Money problems can put a huge strain on a relationship, which tremendously impacts our children, our marriages and our overall happiness.

Today, I will share a few strategies about being better stewards of our finances specifically as it relates to necessities like food, toiletries (and even diapers and pull ups in my house).  A great way that I have found to maximize our household finances is by using coupons. Yep I said coupons… good old fashioned coupons!

Just a few years ago, you would only hear me talking about a coupon if it was for a department store. But coupons for groceries and toiletries… no way and to use them at Target… no way!

In fact, I thought people who used coupons were “special.”  Hey I am just being honest.  I thought, “That takes way too much time” and “I will never do that.”

Well today is a new day… I am a believer. About a year ago, a member of my women bible study class did a presentation on “couponing.”  Yes there is am official term for it. I was amazed when I saw some of her receipts and the items she bought a ridiculously low prices.

Last week, I went into a drug store and was able to purchase 5 packs of Huggies diapers (the jumbo pack) for a mere $10 when the retail price is usually $59.95  (each pack costing $11.99).  Do you hear what I’m saying?… That’s a savings of $49.95 on one purchase. I am definitely a believer!

This whole thing can get pretty complicated but in future blog postings, I’m going to share some strategies that I have found to be useful.  I will do my best to keep it really simple because couponing can be done by anyone.

So what questions do you have?

Feel free to post your question and I will make time to share some feedback with you.

In this challenging economy, it’s time to maximize your money!
