What is Beauty – External or Internal?

by Marlon on October 20, 2010

What is More Appealing – External or Internal Beauty?

“Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.”   Proverbs 31:30

What is Beauty? Inside or Outside?

What is Beauty? Inside or Outside?

The magazine covers promote beauty!

You know what I’m talking about…  The air-brushed model looks “perfect” with the right makeup, the right lighting, the right clothes, and the right pose.

Recently, I was walking through an airport terminal towards my gate and I saw the bookstore with the magazine rack.  As I briefly scanned the magazines, looking at the models on the covers, I asked myself, “Who defines beauty?”

Isn’t it amazing that our society has been programmed to think that being thin is one of the characteristics for beauty.  And that’s why we have so many young girls starving themselves to fit into some imaginary definition.

True beauty is not from the exterior.  Rather, true beauty is from within.

Have you ever met someone who is physically attractive and after speaking with this person, his or her looks diminish because their attitude / personality is so mean and negative.

I know I have.

And what about someone who does not have the physique of the magazine model but after you share a conversation with this person, he or she looks better because his or her positive personality is so refreshing.

I know I have.

God wants us to shine our beauty from within.  Make it your mission to brighten other people’s lives with your inner beauty!

Are You Speaking Life or Death?

by Marlon on October 13, 2010

Are You Speaking Life or Death?

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue and those who love it will eat its fruit.”       Proverbs 18:21

Your Words have Power!

Your Words have Power!

If a tape recorder was attached to you and your words were recorded for an entire week, 7 full days, every second of the 168 hours, what would be revealed?

Do you think your words would be mostly positive or negative?

We live in such a negative society where it can feel like negativity is the norm.

Can you relate?

I’m sure you can.

Remember this:  Regardless of what’s happening all around us, we still have a choice as to how we will live.

Yes, you read it correctly… “Regardless of what’s happening all around us, we still have a choice as to how we will live.”

Words are power.

God created the entire world and everything in it by speaking things into existence.

My prayer is that you will realize just how powerful your words are because they become self-fulfilling prophecies.

It’s true!  What we say makes a difference!

Accept this challenge!  For the next 24 hours, only speak positive and uplifting words.

Can you do it?  What do you think?

Take the challenge and let’s see what happens.  If you slip by saying something negative, no problem.  Just keep a log of all the negative words, statements and phrases so you can see how well you did at the end of this 24-hour challenge.  This will be an eye-opening experience.  Speak positivity and see how your life transforms.

We welcome your insights and feedback to these questions.  Do share your feedback.

Questions of Reflection

How important are the words that you speak?  Do explain.

What can you do to speak more positive and uplifting words?
